Land and Cattle offers horsemanship classes
on a variety of levels, for individuals who
may be considering horse ownership for
themselves or for their children.. From riding
instruction to Colt Starting, this is a great
opportunity for you or your children to learn
and experience horsemanship and its
responsibilities in a supervised environment.
New Born Foal
Weanling in August
• Learn to catch, halter and lead mare and
foal to a drop line - Foal will follow.
• Groom mare and interact with foal.
• When foal is ready to wean, halter
train, groom and work on handling feet.
• Learn to work in the roundpen on
groundwork under supervision.
• Riding lessons optional at this level.
Yearling
• Learn to catch, halter, lead, groom
and work with yearling. Learn ground
work in the round pen under supervision.
• Get colt ready for first Saddle.
• Riding lessons to prepare to ride
when your horse is ready.
Two Year Old
Greenbreaking
• Develop a relationship with your
horse by doing groundwork exercises in
the roundpen while Jerry greenbreaks your
horse for 60 days.
• Take riding lessons so you will be
ready to ride your horse in the round pen
when the horse is ready.
• Graduate to arena riding and later to
trail riding as you and your horse progress.
